THE DEATH OF SCORE STUDENTS: A CALL FOR SOBER REFLECTION

Of the greatest Nigerian Students.
I have taking my time to reflect on the death of over twenty (20) students crushed to death by accidents at different spots in different state in just a single month. And in my confused but concerned mind, I am sadden and asked myself a lot of questions, and the most reoccurring question is ‘why students?’
The shocking and heartbroken death of eight (8) students including Erstwhile SUG President crushed to death by reckless trailer driver in Akungba is still very fresh in our memory. More than a dozen are still receiving treatment in different hospital in the country. What has been the contribution of Government and Dangote Group of Company towards supporting the late students families and giving hope to the recuperating ones? Dear Leaders, Cadres and fellow Comrades in the field of struggle, fighting for the right of AAUAITES should go beyond Mr. Obagunwa Supreme (SU President) daily tweet, it should be everyone wheat to eat, until the right feet feels the heat. A leader in need is a leader indeed.
Before I leap to another sober event, let the whole students’ community in the country be aware that the only and best solution provided by the AAUASU to curb trailer accidents in that habitat is facing threats, in which they need government backup to strengthen their order. Until all are freed, all are slave.
Condolence greetings to all Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS) students. And I heartily sympathize with Comr. Faruku Barade (SUG President), members of the Student Union, the management and parents of students who lost their life in the early hour of January 30, 2020 to macabre and fatal road accident which occurred along Kwara to Sokoto way. Twenty (20) life were lost which includes students of UDUS and past students leader of Emmanuel Alayande College Of Education, Oyo (EACOED). May their gentle souls find perfect peace. We pray for quick recovery for those who are still receiving treatments, and we believe intervention would come for you soon.
The first day of the month was welcomed with fire outbreak at the same Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto. 9 female hostel were razed, with properties of students been destroyed, not to talk of students who sustains injuries.
Of the greatest Nigerian Students, all good things must come to an end, but all bad things can not continue forever. This is the best time for physical, mental and spiritual intervention. We can’t keep losing the future hope while still in school, we are tired of buying candles and soaking our eyes in black attire every night.
This is a call to wake the leaders up, to call everyone to be responsible to responsibilities, to shun diversity and wake up to unity, the modality and truth of student unionism.
This a call for sober reflection, and a call to be awaken. May God averts evil from all Nigerian students both home and abroad.
