Students Welfare Will Be My Priority, FSS Rector Pledges


The Rector of the Federal School of Surveying, Oyo State, Surveyor (Dr.) Dupe Nihinlola Olayinka Dosunmu has promised to make students’ welfare a priority.

Surveyor Nihinlola gave the assurance when a delegation of National Association of Nigerian Students Southwest Zone (NANS Zone D), led by its Deputy Coordinator, Comrade Oladimeji Uthman, paid a courtesy visitation to the institution in Oyo on Wednesday.

The Rector said that due to her high regard for students and staff of the polytechnic, she had made their welfare one of her administration’s priorities.

“I have a very high regard for students and that is why since I came on board, I have attended very quickly to their welfare; and I equally seek huge support from NANS.”

She charged the leadership to live up to expectation as future leaders and be Ambassadors of peace and progress in their various Institutions, Communities, States and Country in general.

She also saluted their courage urging them to be focused and do everything possibly to sanitize and promote the association as she was also a student unionist during her undergraduate days in the same institution.

The Rector assured the delegation of the polytechnic support and cooperation, adding that, education is the topmost priority of President Muhammadu Buhari administration.

“I want to assure all executive members of NANS that I will always continue to operate an open door policy with the Students’ Union Government.”

Earlier, the leader of the delegation who is also the Southwest Zonal Deputy Coordinator, said they are on a courtesy call to familiarize with the institution management. According to him, the body has about 40.1 Million members cutting across the Southwestern states.

He also noted that NANS Zone D appreciates the efforts of the management of the institution for the infrastructural development and welfare of our members in the polytechnic, saying it will go a long way in giving quality education to the students as the institution is majorly practical based.

Finally, Comrade Oladimeji commended the management of the institution for their giant strides and for taking bold steps in solving the problem of accommodation and security in the institution saying that the association will do its best to compliment the efforts of the management. He however appealed to the federal government to partner with private sectors to change the facelift of infrastructures in our educational institutions and the level of decadence in the educational sector.

The Deputy Coordinator on behalf of the teeming leadership presented the NANS Zone D souvenir to the Rector to motivate her and also expected her to do more. She equally joined the leadership to campaign against rape and other social menace in our society.
