Students Decry Extortion And Harassment By Police In Ibarapa

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Oyo State Chapter Vice Chairman, Comr. Sangotoye Adeola has called on concerned stakeholders including state government to save students from extortion and brutalization by members Nigeria Police Force operating along Abeokuta/Igboora, Igboora/Lanlate, Eruwa/Ibadan.

The Vice Chairman, Comr. Sangotoye Adeola disclosed that student’s leaders in the state has make different appeals to the police officers in Ibarapa axis to put an end to all excesses but all efforts has gone futile.

He later urge the state government to look into the uprising brutality.

Dear Sir,

This is to draw your attention to the increased extortion and harassment of students by men of the Nigeria Police force, most especially students travelling along Igboora to Lanlate, Ibadan, Abeokuta and Igboora axis.

It is unfortunate that students continue experiencing various degree of harassment and extortion in the hands of Police officers despite several appeals that have been made by the students’ body to the Police Command to curb this ill treatment of students’ travelers.

The students body once again use this medium to request that you look into and promptly put an end this growing menace of students extortion and brutality by Men of the Police force many, of whom we believe also have children in various academic institutions and would not be pleased to hear of their children been extorted and brutalized.

As a law abiding citizen of Nigeria, we urge you in a fatherly effort to please look into this as we will be looking forward to you acknowledging our letter. Also, we will be very glad if we can be given an opportunity for further discussion with on you on this matter.
