NANS SOUTHWEST MEETS LAUTECH MANAGEMENT, CONDOLES STUDENTS AND THE INSTITUTION’S OFFICIALS OVER NIFEMI’S DEATH
The leadership of the aforementioned ideological association in Nigeria meets high powered management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho to register condolences over the passing away of our dear NIFEMI, a Student of the institution and makes invaluable demands that would restore peace, tranquility and serenity on campus. The delegation led by the Deputy Coordinator of NANS, Comrade Oladimeji Uthman in his speech hailed the institution’s acting Vice Chancellor for the opportunity given to the leadership of the zone to meet and deliberate on pivotal issues that would make LAUTECH great again. He further expressed disgruntlement over the carelessness of LAUTECH medical personnel to Students’ healthcare. He said if the needful had been done, life of the departed soul might not have been taken away.
The Deputy Coordinator on behalf of the leadership of the association hinted LAUTECH management on the demerits of not having a democratically elected Students’ Union Government. According to him, if the SUG had been constituted and inaugurated, the protest that eventually resulted into little destruction of facilities would have been circumvented. He said the protest led by a group of unidentified Students of the institution would have been controlled if led by legitimate Students leaders. Therefore, it’s highly essential to quickly fastrack the process to usher in brand new executives. Furthermore, the leadership of NANS SOUTHWEST made a request for proper investigation of the Student’s death and that a panel should be instantaneously put in place. No stone was left unturned as welfare of the Students in and outside campus was demanded.
The acting Vice Chancellor applauded NANS delegation for being responsible, reasonable and brilliant. He said the management is bereaved because the deceased died untimely. He requested that a minute silence be made to pay respect for the departed soul. He said the investigative pannel has been constituted and adequate findings on the cause of his death shall be made. He further stressed that a delegation that would attend the burial of the Students in Akure, the hometown of the Student has been put in place. He said there is arrangement to appease and compensate his parents.
The acting Vice Chancellor noted and granted demands stated by the leadership of NANS as he said immediately leadership training and workshop for Students is concluded, proper election of SUG would be done. He said everything necessary would always be done to ensure University community is a save arena for Students. In attendance were Dean Students ‘Affairs, the University Liberian, the University Public Relations Officer and Chairman of all Deans.
