NANS SOUTHWEST MEETS LAUTECH MANAGEMENT, SECURES REINSTATEMENT OF SUSPENDED STUDENTS’ UNION GOVERNMENT

The leadership of the most articulate and ideological zone in Nigeria meets management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho, Oyo State and were received by Dr. Azeem Ige, the Dean Students Affairs. The meeting was attended by Students leaders, LAUTECH comrades and the NANS Oyo Chairman. The leadership of the zone condemned attempt by management of some institutions in Southwest to mute, suppress and kill unionism which serves as a formidable platform to orientate, train and groom future leaders. The leadership of the zone confidently told LAUTECH management that it would not be enchanted with any institution attempting to cripple Students Union in the region any longer.

From reliable findings, it was revealed to the leadership of the zone that unregistered organisations in LAUTECH have been impediment to the reinstatement of the suspended union as leaders of these organisations want to at all cost produce the new leadership of the union. The leadership of the zone appealed to heads of these organisations to allow peace to reign, imbibe spirit of sportsmanship and give way for democratically elected leaders to come on board.

After lengthy deliberations, the Dean Students Affairs applauded leadership of the zone for being pragmatic and up and doing on issues affecting our members in the campus. As new session commences on Monday, April 12 2021, it is resolved that electoral committee should be put in place and commence activities that would usher in fresh leadership of the Students Union. While waiting for management to come up with election modalities and timetable, we appeal to LADOKITES for maximum cooperation, shun election violence and deviate from activities that will render efforts of the zonal leadership and management useless.

The zonal leadership left no stone unturned as security, welfare and outstanding well being of the Students were demanded. It’s believed that LAUTECH is trying in these areas but we want the University leadership to buckle up and double efforts so that peace, tranquility and serenity would continue thriving in the institution. We appreciate the Dean Students Affairs for being accommodating, brilliant and humble while giving response to our agitations.
