NANS President March Against Students Extortion In KWASU, Place OAU Management On Alert

In keeping with my mandate and path with the Nigerian Students to fight for their welfare and return NANS to Campus.

We relocated the NANS secretariat to Kwara State University, KWASU, when we received the news of the unjustifiable increment in their hostel fees.

Myself and my team, paid a visit to all the hostels and I was disappointed by the state we met the hostels, we embarked on protest against CAPITALIST EXTORTION in the university

And we emphasised that the fees must be must be reduced from #20,000 to #5,000

Amidst of the protest, the school management took to the their heels, because they could not withstand the protest

We later met with the representatives of Kwara State Government where commitments were made by the university management to immediately revert to the N5,000 fees.

Let it be on good record that the protest was peaceful with no destruction of the university or state property whatsoever.

We must continue to show grievances without destroying the fabrics of our society.

I appreciate the State Government for allowing the voice of reason to prevail and the university management for correcting its wrong.

We also want to state without any reservation that no student must be victimized for legitimately and peacefully protesting for their welfare, if any should student is victimized, we shall return to the NANS secretariat of such university and it shall be brutal this time.

NANS under my watch is always on the road and will leave no stone unturned to ensure better welfare for students. Tell the oppressor that NANS is coming for them. It is no longer business as usual.

NANS appreciate the State Government for allowing the voice of reason to prevail and the university management for correcting its wrong.

Also, NANS has secured a written commitment of the management of OAU to immediately reinstate the Students Union. If ASUU is not proscribed on any campus, SUG must not be proscribed. Students must democratically elect their leaders at all times.

NANS is the voice of the students and the people of Nigeria and we shall ensure that we reclaim our place as Nigeria’s trusted voice of conscience.
