NANS Passed Vote Of Confidence On FMC Medical Director For Medical Revolution, Restoration Of The Center Dignity


The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students Southwest Zone (NANS Zone D), has heaped praises on the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Center, Abeokuta, Ogun State for the achievements and rapid transformation the center has recorded in the last four years.

The Deputy Coordinator of the Southwest Geopolitical Zone of the Students body, Comrade Oladimeji Uthman gave the commendation on Thursday during a congratulatory visit to the medical director on his reappointment into office and presentation of an Award of Excellence Leadership.

Comrade Oladimeji Uthman who said that NANS Zone D visit to the medical center was to felicitate with the Chief Medical Director and also appreciate him about the positive turn around being witnessed in the center in the last four years which was the first tenure of Prof. Adewale Musa-Olomu led administration. He praised his hard work, unquestionable antecedents and a very clear record of quality service in the health sector.

He also lauded the infrastructure developments, welfare and achievements the medical director had recorded.

He passed a vote of confidence on the Medical Director, Prof. Adewale Abdul Semiu Musa-Olomu who he said has transformed the medical center to a global standard and improved infrastructural status as well as instilled fiscal and administrative discipline in the medical center.

He also stressed that the achievements have restored the confidence of the public in the credibility and integrity of the Medical Center in the first tenure of Prof. Musa-Olomu.

Comrade Uthman commended President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR and the Hon. Ministers of Health for the reappointment of Prof. Musa-Olomu who has performed creditably by transforming and repositioning the Medical Center in the last four years under his watch.

The Deputy Coordinator described the Medical Center as a reference point in the health sector and it would have suffered retrogression if the erudite academic Surgeon was denied a second term tenure.

He urged other Chief Medical Directors in the country to emulate the passion and commitment of this International thyroid surgeon in transforming and repositioning the nations medical center, adding that NANS is always ready to support such moves.

In his response, the Chief Medical Director, Prof. (Dr.) Adewale Musa-Olomu, described the visit of NANS leadership as historic. He appreciated the students’ body for the gesture urging them to strive for excellence in their academic endeavours.

He highlighted the progress achieved in quality service delivery, infrastructural development, welfare package, security, fiscal transparency, which he said would not have been possible without the support and gesture granted by His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR.

Prof. Musa-Olomu added that the proposed Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta bill is underway. The Senate had passed the bill seeking for the establishment of the university. The bill is presently awaiting the concurrence passage by the House of Representatives before the President’s final assent; he assailed.
