Student Union Government

Press Statement

Solidarity Greetings to all Stakeholders in the State and Cadres in the field of struggles.

Due to the issue of the gateway charges on Oyo State Students payment portal, The OYO-STATE NANS JCC has declared a total shut down of all Government owned Institutions in the State starting from Monday 1st March, 2021 until the State Governor himself swings into immediate action.

Our Position As Student Union Government Of The Polytechnic, Ibadan

The Polytechnic, Ibadan will not partake in the total shut down commencing on Monday, not because we wish or want to disobey the Joint Campus Committee’s decision but because the school just came back to life last week Monday when the Non Academic Staff Union suspended the strike few days ago.

In addition,The Polytechnic,Ibadan, cannot be compared to other Institutions in the State that have completed their activities and examination for the Session.

The Polytechnic, Ibadan students will not support the shutting down of the School gate because we cannot keep wasting our time, because two years course is gradually becoming a four years course.

Normal activities will continue on campus starting from Monday .

Lastly, the state government should call on the JCC leadership to find a solution to this lingering issues as dialogue is the best way to resolve issues.

Thanks.

Fadare Blessing

SUG President,

The Polytechnic, Ibadan
