In the mood of Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the National Association of Nigerian Students Southwest Zone (NANS Zone D) has urged politicians to push aside interests and come together to fight the common enemies against the development of the country.

In a statement by the Deputy Coordinator of NANS Southwest, Comrade Oladimeji Uthman charged the government across all levels to find a decisive and lasting solution to the many menace that is devouring our land.

Uthman in the statement also felicitated with Muslim faithfuls and students in Southwest and the nation at large on this auspicious celebration of Eid-el-Kabir.

The statement reads, “this celebration ultimately symbolises the willingness to be selfless and sacrificial in obedience to God and for the sakes of humanity.

“The festival is with honourable reference to the Prophet Ibrahim’s selflessness and willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God’s commandment and how Allah provided a ram as a substitute for the sacrifice.

“We admonish all Muslim faithfuls to uphold the great lessons of the festival which include peace, love, honesty and generosity to others, especially during this trying period and beyond.

“We also urge you all to use this occasion to remember the nation in prayers as we are faced with the most trying challenges of insecurity, the pandemic and economic meltdown to mention a few.

“We should extend our kindness and intersession to our fellow Muslims and others who are striving for survival in war torn zones. Let us also remember victims of insurgence and crises born of religion intolerance and other causes.

“We should also desist from propagating hatred among ourselves over religion and other sectional or personal interests. We are all first humans before we are product of different faiths.

“We also seek this medium to charge the government across all levels to find a decisive and lasting solution to the many menace that is devouring our land. Politicial interests must be pushed aside and we must sort ways of uniting against our common enemies and adversities.

“As we go about the merriments today, Nigerian Students should ensure to do all in moderation and with consciousness for safety. Be your neighbor’s keeper and necessary authorities should be quickly alerted in the case of any unusual observations or occurrence.”
