Suspected gunmen have kidnapped Muhammad Shehu, the Executive Chairman of Keffi Local Government Area in Nasarawa State, along with his driver. On Friday night, May 20, he was taken while travelling with his driver and a police officer.
The gunmen were alleged to have set up barricades along the Keffi-Akwanga road and fired periodically into the air, forcing them to pull over before being taken. The police orderly attempted to repel the onslaught in an attempt to bring the situation under control, but regrettably died in the process.
CP Adesina Soyemi, the state’s Commissioner of Police, verified the news, saying that police agents had taken over the attack site in order to rescue the victims and apprehend the kidnappers.
He said: “Police officers have arrived in the area where they were abducted.”
We’ve taken over the environment, and I can tell you that they’ll be freed shortly, and the criminals will face the full force of the law.”
