BREAKING: Doguwa, Two Other Aspirants Withdraw From Speakership Race

The majority leader of the house of representatives, Hon. Alhassan Doguwa has withdrawn from the speakership race in respect for the party’s choice of Tajudeen Abass and Benjamin Kalu and Speaker and deputy respectively.

Doguwa announced his withdrawal from the race on Wednesday night at a meeting with reps-elect at Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja.

Two other aspirants for the speakership of the House of Representatives, Abubakar Maki and Olatunji Olawuyi also withdrew from the race to back Abass.

Doguwa who was linked with the G7 — a group of seven speakership aspirants — who vowed that the speaker from the 10th assembly would be elected from among them said he withdrew from the race to support the party’s choice because he is a beneficiary of the zoning arrangement.
