The Student Union Government of Adeyemi College Of Education, Ondo has replied the management of the college on the circular released by then on 15th of April, 2021.
Press release by Student Union described the act by the school management ‘most embarrassing’ stating that this step is not considerate and will not cub reckless driving, due to the fact that members of manager also drives recklessly.
The Union then stated her stand on the ban, and call on management to reverse the circular as a matter on urgency.

RE: BAN ON CARS AND POWER BIKES BY STUDENTS IN THE COLLEGE
Our attention has been drawn to a circular released by the College Management on 15th April, 2021 through the office of the Register with reference ACE/RO/07/VOL.IX/210; banning students from using automobiles on campus.
As a Union, we find it most embarrassing to read the circular issued by the College’s Registrar on behalf of the management, mandating students who own cars and power bikes to cease bringing their vehicles into the College’s environment.
As much as we agree that there must have been reckless driving on the part of some students, it is not enough justification to ban the entire Students’ populace from entering the campus with their vehicles. Infact, reckless driving is not limited to students alone, staffs are also guilty of such. Rather than outrightly ban the usage of vehicles by students in the College’s environment, the management should have actually looked into this holistically and come out with resolutions that will inculcate good driving habits, values and attitudes.
As students leaders, our resolutions are;
1. The management should mandate the security department to impound and fine, appropriately, students and staffs, caught driving recklessly.
2. We are of the opinion that the use of power-bikes on campus should be restricted for the sake of sanity, because, the noise pollution from power-bikes constitutes distraction in a learning environment like ours.
3. Students should be made to register their vehicles with the Security Unit of the institution for identification.
4. Tally should be given at point of entry into the College and Collected at point of exit, like the way it is been done in an academic environment.
5. Proper checks should be done at the College gates by security personnels.
6. Car parks should be built by the College management at strategic places on campus to avoid irregular parking of cars in the College.
7. Speed breakers should be constructed at a distance of not less than 300M intervals, to limit the speed of cars.
It is as well right to note that most of this cars owned by students has been used to rescue students in cases of health emergency.
On a final note, we call on the management to, as a matter of urgency and necessity reverse its decision and come up with a decision that will not only make us to pass through school but allow the school to pass through us.
