Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria would not resume back to school despite the Federal Government directive that all Institution should resume and commence academics activities.
Today, the school released a statement outlining reasons why the institution will not reopen on the scheduled 25th of January as earlier announced by the school management.
In a statement released and signed by the University’s director, The Director of Public Affairs, Malam Auwalu Umar, he stated that the earlier announced date of January 25, 2021 is now postponed due to the fact that the state government is yet to announce reopening of schools in the state.
The circular by the Director reads:
”This is to inform students, parents and the general public that Ahmadu Bello University is still awaiting approval from the Kaduna State Government for the reopening of the Institution.
”The State Government sent a verification team to the University on Wednesday, 20th January, 2021 to specifically assess ABU’s compliance with COVID-19 preventive protocols. The University has indeed enjoyed the tremendous cooperation of the team during the assessment tour.
”It would be recalled that the University had on Tuesday, 12th January, 2021 announced its decision to reopen for resumption of academic activities on Monday, 25th January, 2021 subject to further directives issued by the Federal and Kaduna State Government.
”Meanwhile, University Management wishes to reassure all students, parents and other stakeholders that whatever decision communicated to the Institution will be conveyed to them immediately for further action. ”
